Day Day 1 : Machame Gate to Machame Camp
Drive from Moshi to Machame Gate. Begin hike through rainforest zone. Trek: 10 km / 6 hrs. Overnight at Machame Camp (2,835m).
Day Day 2 : Machame Camp to Shira Camp
Ascend into moorland zone. Views of Shira Plateau and glaciers. Trek: 5 km / 5 hrs. Camp at Shira Camp (3,750m).
Day Day 3 : Shira to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp
Acclimatization day with climb to Lava Tower (4,630m) and descent to Barranco Camp (3,976m). Trek: 10 km / 6–8 hrs.
Day Day 4 : Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
Climb the Great Barranco Wall, then descend into Karanga Valley. Trek: 5 km / 4–5 hrs. Overnight at Karanga Camp (3,995m).
Day Day 5 : Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
Steady hike to Barafu base camp (4,673m). Early dinner and rest before summit push. Trek: 4 km / 3–4 hrs.
